How to use this tool?
Follow these steps to calculate your maximum heart rate and training zones:
- Enter your age in years (1–120) in the "Age" field.
- Select your gender from the dropdown (Male or Female).
- Click the "Calculate Max Heart Rate" button.
- Your estimated maximum heart rate (MHR) appears in beats per minute (bpm).
- Below the MHR, you'll see 5 training zones (50–100% of MHR) for exercise intensity planning.
Note: The calculator uses the Tanaka formula (208 − 0.7 × age) for both genders. This is an estimate—actual MHR may vary. No unit conversion is needed; age is in years.

Frequently Asked Questions
Max heart rate (MHR) is the highest number of beats per minute your heart can achieve during maximum physical exertion. It is used to determine training zones.
The Tanaka formula (208 - 0.7 × age) is one of the most accurate for the general population, but individual variations exist.
Research shows that the Tanaka formula works well for both males and females without adjustment. Some formulas have separate versions, but Tanaka found no significant difference.
