How to use this tool?
This calculator computes your bowling score based on the number of pins knocked down in each roll. Follow these steps:
- Enter rolls for each frame (1–10):
- For frames 1–9, fill in the 1st and 2nd roll fields (0–10 pins each).
- If you get a strike (10 pins in the first roll), leave the 2nd roll blank.
- For frame 10, a 3rd roll field appears automatically if you score a strike or spare.
- Click "Calculate Score" to compute your final score and see a detailed breakdown per frame.
- Click "Reset All" to clear all inputs and start over.
Scoring rules applied:
- Strike (X): 10 pins + next 2 rolls.
- Spare (/): 10 pins + next 1 roll.
- Open frame: Total pins knocked in that frame.
- Frame 10 allows up to 3 rolls if a strike or spare occurs.
All inputs must be between 0 and 10. Invalid entries are highlighted in red.

Frequently Asked Questions
A bowling score is calculated by adding the total pins knocked down in each frame. Strikes and spares earn bonus points: a strike (10 pins in one roll) adds the next two rolls, and a spare (knocking all remaining pins in the second roll) adds the next one roll.
The maximum possible bowling score is 300, which requires 12 consecutive strikes (10 frames plus the bonus rolls in the 10th frame).
The 10th frame allows up to 3 rolls because if you get a strike or spare, you earn bonus rolls. This is the standard bowling rule to determine the final frame's score correctly.
The calculator validates each input. Pins must be between 0 and 10, and the total for the first two rolls in a frame (except a strike) cannot exceed 10. Invalid inputs are highlighted with red borders.
