How to use this tool?
Follow these steps to use the Ballistic Calculator:
- Enter Muzzle Velocity (ft/s) – the bullet’s speed at the barrel exit (e.g., 2800).
- Enter Ballistic Coefficient (G1 model) – a value between 0.001 and 1 (e.g., 0.447).
- Enter Bullet Weight in grains (e.g., 168).
- Enter Distance to target in yards (e.g., 100).
- Enter Sight Height in inches – the distance from bore center to scope center (e.g., 1.5).
- Enter Zero Range in yards – the distance at which the rifle is sighted in (e.g., 100).
- Click Calculate to see results: bullet drop (inches), time of flight (seconds), muzzle kinetic energy (ft-lbs), and estimated velocity at distance (ft/s).
Note: All inputs use imperial units (feet, inches, yards, grains). The calculation is a simplified point-mass model with G1 drag for demonstration.

Frequently Asked Questions
Ballistic coefficient (BC) measures a bullet's ability to overcome air resistance. Higher BC means less drag and flatter trajectory.
This calculator uses a simplified point mass model for demonstration. For precise results, use specialized software like JBM Ballistics.
