Frequently Asked Questions
The MyPlate Plan is a personalized food guide based on the USDA's MyPlate recommendations. It helps you determine how much to eat from each food group daily based on your age, gender, height, weight, and activity level.
The calculator estimates your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation and an activity factor. It then maps your TDEE to the nearest MyPlate calorie level (e.g., 1600, 2000, 2400).
Food group amounts (fruits, vegetables, grains, protein, dairy) are based on the official USDA MyPlate recommendations for each calorie level. They represent daily targets in cups or ounce equivalents.
