How to use this tool?
This calculator estimates your pool's volume in gallons and the associated costs for water and chlorine. All measurements must be in feet (imperial).
- Select Shape: Choose Rectangular, Circular, or Oval from the dropdown. The required fields will update automatically.
- Enter Dimensions:
- For Rectangular: Provide Length and Width.
- For Circular: Provide Diameter only.
- For Oval: Provide Length, Width, and Diameter.
- Enter Depths: Fill in the Shallow End Depth and Deep End Depth. The deep end must be equal to or greater than the shallow end.
- Set Costs (optional): The default water cost is $5 per 1000 gallons and chlorine cost is $2 per 1000 gallons. Adjust as needed. You can also choose between Liquid or Tablets chlorine type.
- Calculate: Click the Calculate button. Results will show the total volume in gallons, water cost, and chlorine cost.
Note: The calculator uses the formula: Volume = Average Depth × Surface Area × 7.48 (gallons per cubic foot). All costs are based on your entered rates per 1000 gallons.

Frequently Asked Questions
For rectangular pools, measure length and width. For circular, measure diameter. For oval, measure length, width, and diameter (the width of the oval). Depths: measure shallow and deep ends in feet.
Average depth is (shallow end depth + deep end depth) / 2. This is used for volume calculations.
The calculation is approximate. For irregular shapes, consider professional measurement. The formula uses standard geometric shapes.
