How to Use the Pool Calculator
- Select Shape & Units – Choose your pool shape (Rectangular or Circular) and measurement system (Metric in meters or Imperial in feet).
- Enter Pool Dimensions – For rectangular pools, input Length, Width, and Average Depth. For circular pools, input Diameter and Average Depth. All values must be positive numbers.
- Set Chemical & Heating Parameters – Enter Desired Chlorine (1–5 ppm), Current Chlorine (0–5 ppm), and Temperature Rise (positive number). The calculator uses °C for Metric and °F for Imperial.
- Click "Calculate" – The form validates all inputs. If any field is invalid, it shows an error. Once valid, results appear below.
- Read Results – You’ll see:
- Volume in liters (Metric) or gallons (Imperial)
- Chlorine to add in grams (Metric) or ounces (Imperial)
- Energy to heat in kWh (Metric) or therms (Imperial)
- Formula Display – A short formula explanation appears below the results for reference.
Tip: All inputs must be positive. Chlorine values must be between 0 and 5 ppm. The calculator auto-converts units based on your selection.

Frequently Asked Questions
For a pool with varying depth, add the shallow end depth and deep end depth, then divide by 2.
For metric: 1 m³ = 1000 liters. For imperial: 1 ft³ = 7.48052 gallons.
It assumes 1 ppm = 1 mg/L for metric, and 1 ppm = 8.34 lbs per million gallons for imperial. Actual dosage may vary by chemical type.
