How to Use the Water Volume Pool Calculator

  1. Select Pool Shape – Choose Rectangular, Circular, or Oval from the dropdown.
  2. Choose Unit System – Pick Feet (US) for gallons or Meters (Metric) for liters.
  3. Enter Dimensions – Fill in the required fields that appear (e.g., length, width, depth, or diameter). All values must be positive numbers.
  4. Click "Calculate Volume" – The result shows water volume in gallons (if feet) or liters (if meters), along with the formula used.
  5. Check Errors – If any input is missing or invalid, a clear error message will appear.

Tip: Use average depth for pools with varying depths. For oval pools, the long and short diameters are the full lengths across the pool.

Frequently Asked Questions

For a pool with a constant depth, use that depth. For a pool with a deep end and shallow end, add the shallow depth and deep end depth and divide by 2.

Volume = Length × Width × Average Depth. Multiply by 7.48 to convert cubic feet to US gallons, or by 1000 to convert cubic meters to liters.

This calculator provides an estimate based on standard geometric shapes. For irregular pools, consider using a more detailed method or professional measurement.
