How to use the Nether to Overworld Calculator
This tool converts coordinates between the Nether and Overworld dimensions using the standard 1:8 ratio (1 block in the Nether equals 8 blocks in the Overworld).
- Convert Nether → Overworld: Enter your Nether X and Z coordinates, then click Convert to Overworld. The result shows the equivalent Overworld coordinates (X × 8, Z × 8).
- Convert Overworld → Nether: Enter your Overworld X and Z coordinates, then click Convert to Nether. The result shows the equivalent Nether coordinates (X ÷ 8, Z ÷ 8).
- You can also press Enter after typing in any input field to trigger the conversion automatically.
- All inputs accept decimal numbers (e.g., 1.5). The Y-coordinate (height) is not used—only horizontal X and Z matter for portal linking.
- Results appear in the Result section with a brief explanation of the calculation.
Tip: For accurate portal linking, round the resulting coordinates to the nearest whole number when building portals.

Frequently Asked Questions
In Minecraft, the Nether is scaled to the Overworld by a factor of 8. This means that for every block you travel in the Nether, you travel 8 blocks in the Overworld. To convert Nether coordinates to Overworld, multiply X and Z by 8. To convert Overworld to Nether, divide by 8.
When building Nether portals, you need to link them correctly so that they connect to the right location in the Overworld. Using this calculator ensures your portals are aligned properly.
The Y (vertical) coordinate is not affected by the Nether scaling; it remains the same. This calculator only converts X and Z coordinates.
