How to use this tool?
This calculator converts coordinates between the Overworld and the Nether in Minecraft. The Nether is 8 times smaller than the Overworld, so coordinates are divided or multiplied by 8 accordingly.
- Select the known dimension — choose Overworld or Nether from the dropdown.
- Enter the coordinates — type the X, Y, and Z values of the known location. All fields are required and must be numbers (e.g., 100, 64, -200).
- Click “Calculate” — the result will appear below, showing the corresponding coordinates in the other dimension.
Formula used: If Overworld is known, Nether coordinates are (X / 8, Y, Z / 8). If Nether is known, Overworld coordinates are (X * 8, Y, Z * 8). Y remains unchanged.
Note: The calculator uses integer division (floor) for Overworld-to-Nether conversion. All coordinates are in Minecraft blocks. No metric or imperial units are involved.

One block in the Nether equals eight blocks in the Overworld. So Overworld coordinates are divided by 8 to get Nether coordinates, and Nether coordinates are multiplied by 8 to get Overworld coordinates.
The Y coordinate (vertical) is the same in both dimensions because the conversion only applies to horizontal (X and Z) coordinates.
Ensure the calculated coordinates are within a loaded chunk and that you build the portal at the exact coordinates. Also check that no other portal is nearby.
