Frequently Asked Questions

A golf handicap is a numerical measure of a golfer's potential ability, allowing players of different skill levels to compete fairly. It is calculated based on recent scores and course difficulty.

The handicap index is calculated by taking the average of the best differentials from your scores, where each differential = (score - course rating) x 113 / slope rating. The average is then multiplied by 0.96 and rounded to one decimal.

Course rating indicates the difficulty of a course for a scratch golfer (usually between 67-77). Slope rating measures the relative difficulty for a bogey golfer compared to a scratch golfer (range 55-155, with 113 being standard).
