How to Use the Golf Handicap Calculator
This calculator computes your Handicap Index based on your recent scores and course difficulty. Follow these steps:
- Enter Your Scores (up to 5). Fill in at least one score (e.g., 85). All scores must be positive numbers.
- Provide Course Details:
- Course Rating – typically between 67 and 77 (e.g., 72.5).
- Slope Rating – between 55 and 155 (standard is 113).
- Select Holes Played – choose 18 Holes or 9 Holes. For 9-hole scores, the calculator doubles them automatically.
- Choose Number of Scores to Use – the calculator picks your best (lowest) differentials from the entered scores. Default is 5.
- Click "Calculate Handicap" – your Handicap Index appears, rounded to one decimal, along with the formula breakdown.
Note: All inputs are required except optional score fields. The result uses the formula: average of best differentials × 0.96.
