How to Use the Reinforcing Steel Calculator
This calculator estimates the total weight and length of steel reinforcing bars (rebar) based on standard metric sizes. Follow these steps:
- Select Bar Size – Choose a rebar size from the dropdown (e.g., #4 for 13mm diameter). Each size has a fixed weight per meter (kg/m).
- Enter Bar Length – Input the length of each bar in meters (e.g., 6). Use positive numbers only.
- Enter Quantity – Specify the number of bars needed (e.g., 10). Must be a whole positive number.
- Click "Calculate" – The tool will display:
- Total Weight – Combined weight of all bars in kilograms.
- Total Length – Sum of all bar lengths in meters.
- Weight per Bar – Weight of a single bar.
Note: All inputs are metric. The formula used is: Weight = Weight per meter × Length × Quantity. If you see an error, check that your inputs are valid positive numbers.
