How to Use the Linear Regression Calculator
- Enter data points in the "Data Points" text area. Each point should be on a new line, with x and y values separated by a comma or space (e.g.,
1,2then2,4). You need at least two points. - Optional: Predict a value by entering an x value in the "Predict for x =" field. If left blank, no prediction will be shown.
- Click "Calculate Regression" to compute the results.
- Review the outputs:
- Slope (b) and Intercept (a) define the regression line: y = bx + a.
- R-squared indicates how well the line fits the data (1 = perfect fit).
- Predicted y shows the estimated y for your entered x value.
Note: All values must be numeric. Use decimal points (e.g., 1.5) if needed. The calculator works with any numeric data, no specific units required.

Frequently Asked Questions
Linear regression is a statistical method to model the relationship between a dependent variable (y) and an independent variable (x) by fitting a linear equation y = a + bx.
Enter each data point on a new line, with x and y separated by a comma or space. For example: 1,2 then 2,4 then 3,6.
R-squared measures how well the regression line fits the data. It ranges from 0 to 1, with higher values indicating a better fit.
