How to Use the Pond Liner Calculator

This calculator determines the required liner dimensions (length, width, and area) for a rectangular pond. All measurements must be in feet except Overlap, which is in inches.

  1. Enter Pond Length (ft) – The longest side of your pond.
  2. Enter Pond Width (ft) – The shorter side of your pond.
  3. Enter Pond Depth (ft) – The maximum depth of the pond.
  4. Enter Overlap (inches) – Extra liner material to extend beyond the pond edges (default is 12 inches).

Results update automatically as you type:

  • Liner Length = Length + 2 × Depth + Overlap (converted to feet)
  • Liner Width = Width + 2 × Depth + Overlap
  • Liner Area = Liner Length × Liner Width (in square feet)

All inputs must be positive numbers. Overlap can be zero. Invalid entries show a red border and dashes in results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Measure the maximum length, width, and depth of your pond. Add twice the depth to each dimension plus overlap for the liner size.

Typically 12-24 inches of overlap is recommended to secure the liner edges.

This calculator assumes a rectangular pond. For irregular shapes, use the longest and widest points.
