How to Use the Map Calculator
This calculator has two independent tools. Follow the steps below for each.
1. Distance Between Two Points
- Input: Enter coordinates in decimal degrees (e.g.,
40.7128, -74.0060). Use a comma to separate latitude and longitude. - Click "Calculate Distance".
- Output: The straight-line distance (Haversine formula) in kilometers and miles.
2. Scale Conversion
- Input: Enter the map distance in centimeters and the scale denominator (e.g., for a 1:50,000 map, enter
50000). - Click "Calculate Real Distance".
- Output: The real-world distance in centimeters and kilometers.
Note: All inputs use the metric system. Coordinates must be within valid ranges (latitude: -90 to 90, longitude: -180 to 180).
