How to Use the Energy Bill Calculator
This tool estimates your monthly electricity cost based on common appliances. Follow these steps:
- Enter Appliance Usage – Fill in how many hours per day (or per week for washing machine) each appliance runs. Defaults are provided.
- Set Appliance Power – Adjust the wattage for each device if needed. Typical values are pre-filled.
- Specify Rate & Days – Input your electricity rate in $/kWh and the number of days in the billing month (1–31).
- Click "Calculate Energy Bill" – The total cost and consumption appear instantly, along with a breakdown per appliance.
Note: All inputs must be non-negative numbers. The washing machine uses weekly hours, automatically converted to monthly usage. The formula is: (Watts × Hours × Days) / 1000 = kWh, then multiplied by the rate.

Frequently Asked Questions
The calculator sums the energy consumption of each appliance (watts × hours used) divided by 1000 to get kWh, then multiplies by your electricity rate.
The default rate is $0.12 per kWh, which is a common average. You can adjust it based on your local rate.
This version includes common appliances. For a more detailed estimate, you can manually add additional consumption to the totals.
