How to use this tool?
Follow these steps to use the AP Chemistry Score Calculator:
- Enter Multiple Choice scores – Input the number of correct answers (0–60) and the number of wrong answers (0–60). The calculator automatically applies a 0.25 penalty for wrong answers.
- Enter Free Response scores – For each of the 7 FRQs (Q1–Q7), enter a score between 0 and 10 (decimals allowed).
- Click "Calculate Score" – The button submits the form and computes your composite score.
- View your results – The predicted AP score (1–5) and composite score appear below. The formula and score ranges are displayed for reference.
Important: Ensure your MC correct + wrong ≤ 60. All FRQ scores must be between 0 and 10. The composite score is calculated as: (MC Correct – 0.25 × MC Wrong) × 1.2 + (Sum of FRQ scores) × 1.4286. AP scores are mapped as: 5 (100–150), 4 (85–99), 3 (60–84), 2 (45–59), 1 (0–44).
