How to Use the Top Cut Calculator

  1. Enter Initial Dimensions: Input the original length and width of your material in any consistent unit (e.g., inches, cm, meters). Both must be positive numbers.
  2. Set Cut Percentage: Enter the percentage you want to remove from each dimension (e.g., 10 for 10%). The value must be between 0.01 and 100.
  3. Select Material (optional): Choose the material type from the dropdown (Wood, Metal, Fabric, Plastic, or Other). This does not affect the calculation.
  4. Calculate: Click the "Calculate Top Cut" button. The results will show:
    • Cut Length & Cut Width: The amount removed from each dimension (Initial × Cut% / 100).
    • Remaining Length & Remaining Width: The dimensions after the cut.

Tip: Use any unit system (metric or imperial) as long as you are consistent. All results are displayed with two decimal places.
