How to Use the Timesheet Calculator

  1. Enter Clock In and Clock Out times (required, in 24-hour format, e.g., 09:00 and 17:00). Ensure Clock Out is later than Clock In.
  2. Set Break Duration in minutes (default 30). Use 0 if no break.
  3. Enter your Hourly Rate in dollars (e.g., 20.00).
  4. Define Overtime Threshold in hours per day (default 8). Hours beyond this are overtime.
  5. Set Overtime Multiplier (default 1.5x). Must be at least 1.
  6. Click Calculate. Results show:
    • Total Hours Worked (after break deduction)
    • Regular Pay (hours up to threshold × rate)
    • Overtime Pay (excess hours × rate × multiplier)
    • Gross Pay (regular + overtime)
  7. If fields are highlighted red, correct the errors and recalculate.

All inputs are required except break duration (use 0 if none). Times must be in 24-hour format.

Frequently Asked Questions

Overtime is calculated as any hours worked beyond the overtime threshold (default 8 hours) multiplied by the overtime multiplier (default 1.5).

If break duration is longer than the time between clock in and clock out, total hours worked will be zero. The calculator handles this edge case.

This calculator is designed for a single day. For multiple days, calculate each day separately and sum the results.
