Proration is the allocation of a total amount proportionally based on the portion of a period used. For example, if you move into an apartment on the 15th, you pay rent only for the remaining days of the month.
Divide the total monthly rent by the number of days in the month (usually 30) to get the daily rate. Then multiply the daily rate by the number of days you occupy the property. Our calculator does this automatically.
