How to Use the MME Calculator
- Select an opioid from the dropdown menu (e.g., Oxycodone, Fentanyl).
- Enter the dose in the "Dose" field:
- For fentanyl patches, enter the dose in mcg/hr (e.g., 25).
- For all other opioids, enter the dose in mg (e.g., 10).
- If prompted (for non-fentanyl opioids), select the frequency (e.g., "Twice daily" for 2 times per day).
- If using fentanyl, choose the patch duration (every 48 or 72 hours).
- Click "Calculate MME" to see the total daily Morphine Milligram Equivalent (MME) in mg.
Note: The result shows the total daily MME based on CDC conversion factors. Ensure all doses are positive numbers. For fentanyl, the dose is in mcg/hr; for others, in mg.

Frequently Asked Questions
MME stands for Morphine Milligram Equivalent, a standardized measure to compare different opioids based on their potency relative to morphine.
For oral opioids: MME = dose (mg) × conversion factor × frequency per day. For fentanyl patches: MME = dose (mcg/hr) × conversion factor × (24 / patch duration in hours).
The calculator uses CDC-recommended conversion factors. For example, oxycodone factor is 1.5, hydrocodone is 1, fentanyl is 2.4, etc.
