How to use this tool?
This calculator computes board feet, total cost, and weight for lumber pieces. All measurements must be in imperial units (inches and feet).
- Enter Dimensions: Fill in Thickness (inches), Width (inches), Length (feet), and Quantity (number of pieces). All values must be positive numbers.
- Optional Pricing: Enter a Price per Board Foot ($) to calculate total cost. Leave at 0 if not needed.
- Select Density: Choose a wood type from the dropdown (Pine, Fir, Oak, Maple) or select "Custom" to enter a specific density in lbs/ft³.
- Calculate: Click the "Calculate" button. Results appear below showing:
- Board Feet – volume calculated as (Thickness × Width × Length × Quantity) / 12
