How to Use the Redcort Time Calculator
This calculator sums multiple time entries and optionally computes total cost with overtime. Follow these steps:
- Enter time in one of two ways:
- Hours, Minutes, Seconds – Use the three fields. Minutes and seconds must be less than 60.
- Decimal Hours – Enter a decimal (e.g., 2.5 for 2 hours 30 minutes). This overrides the HH:MM:SS fields.
- Add the entry – Click the Add Time Entry button or press Enter. The entry appears in the list below.
- Remove an entry – Click the red trash icon next to any entry to delete it.
- View totals – The Total Time shows the sum in HH:MM:SS format and decimal hours.
- Optional: Calculate cost – Fill in:
- Hourly Rate (e.g., 25 for $25/hour)
- Overtime Multiplier (default 1.5x)
- Regular Hours per Day (default 8) – Hours beyond this are paid at the overtime rate.
Formula: Each entry is converted to seconds, summed, then converted back to HH:MM:SS. Cost = regular pay + overtime pay if total hours exceed the regular threshold.
