Frequently Asked Questions

Dimensional weight (DIM weight) is a pricing technique used by shipping carriers to account for the space a package occupies relative to its actual weight. It is calculated by multiplying length, width, and height and dividing by a DIM divisor.

The DIM divisor varies by carrier: UPS and FedEx use 139 for domestic shipments, USPS uses 166, and DHL uses 250. Check with your carrier for the most current divisor.

Billable weight is the greater of the dimensional weight and the actual weight. Carriers charge based on the billable weight.
