How to Use the Cross Stitch Calculator
This calculator helps you determine the fabric size and thread needed for a cross stitch project. All measurements are in inches.
- Enter Stitch Dimensions: Input the width and height of your design in stitches (e.g., 100 × 80).
- Set Fabric Count: Enter the fabric count (stitches per inch), e.g., 14 for Aida 14.
- Specify Colors: Enter the number of colors in your design.
- Adjust Margin (optional): Default is 3 inches for framing/finishing. Set to 0 for no margin.
- Set Thread per Stitch (optional): Default is 2 inches per stitch. Adjust if you use more/less thread.
- Click "Calculate" to see results: fabric width, height, area, total thread needed, and approximate thread per color.
Tip: Ensure all inputs are positive numbers. The calculator uses imperial units (inches). For metric, convert cm to inches (1 inch = 2.54 cm).
