How to Use the Concrete Bag Calculator
This calculator estimates the number of concrete bags needed for a slab or rectangular area. All measurements must be in imperial units (feet and inches).
- Enter Length and Width – Input the slab dimensions in feet (e.g., 10).
- Enter Depth – Input the slab thickness in inches (e.g., 4).
- Select Bag Size – Choose the bag weight (40, 60, or 80 lb). Each has a fixed volume (0.3, 0.45, or 0.6 cu ft).
- Set Waste Percentage – Add extra material for spillage or uneven surfaces (default 10%).
- Click Calculate – The result shows the total number of bags required and a breakdown of volume and weight.
Tip: Ensure all inputs are positive numbers. The calculator rounds up to the nearest whole bag.

We support 40 lb (0.3 cu ft), 60 lb (0.45 cu ft), and 80 lb (0.6 cu ft) bags. Select the one you plan to use.
A waste factor of 5-10% is common to account for spillage, uneven subgrade, or over-excavation. The default is 10%.
This calculator assumes a rectangular slab. For other shapes, estimate the area and use the equivalent length and width.
