How to Use the Composite Chart Calculator
This calculator computes the composite positions (midpoints) of the Sun, Moon, and Ascendant for two individuals, based on their natal chart degrees. It's used in synastry to analyze relationship dynamics.
- Enter Person 1's positions: Input the natal degrees (0–360) for Sun, Moon, and Ascendant in the "Person 1" fields.
- Enter Person 2's positions: Do the same in the "Person 2" fields. All values must be decimal numbers between 0 and 360.
- Click "Calculate Composite": The button submits the form. If any field is empty or out of range, an error message appears.
- Read the results: Below the form, you'll see the composite Sun, Moon, and Ascendant positions in degrees (e.g., "Composite Sun: 180.50°").
Note: The composite position is the arithmetic midpoint of the two natal positions, normalized to 0–360°. If the sum exceeds 360°, 360 is subtracted before halving; if negative, 360 is added.

Frequently Asked Questions
A composite chart is an astrological technique that calculates the midpoint of each planet between two individuals to create a single chart representing the relationship.
The composite position is the arithmetic midpoint of the two natal positions, normalized to 0-360 degrees.
If the sum of the two positions exceeds 360, subtract 360 before dividing by 2 to get the correct midpoint.
