How to Use the Bottleneck Calculator
- Enter CPU Score: Input a positive integer benchmark score (e.g., 15000) for your processor. Higher scores mean better performance.
- Enter GPU Score: Input a positive integer benchmark score (e.g., 20000) for your graphics card. Higher scores mean better performance.
- Select Resolution: Choose your display resolution (1080p, 1440p, or 4K). Higher resolutions reduce CPU bottleneck.
- Select Primary Use: Choose Gaming, Productivity, or Streaming. Different workloads affect CPU/GPU balance differently.
- Click "Calculate Bottleneck": The tool will show:
- Type: CPU Bottleneck, GPU Bottleneck, or Balanced
- Percentage: The bottleneck severity (absolute value)
- Explanation: Which component is limiting performance
Tip: Use benchmark scores from reliable sources (e.g., PassMark, 3DMark). Scores must be positive integers. The formula adjusts for resolution and usage to give a practical estimate.

Frequently Asked Questions
A bottleneck occurs when one component (CPU or GPU) limits the performance of the other, preventing your system from reaching its full potential.
This calculator provides an estimate based on benchmark scores and typical resolution/usage factors. Real-world performance may vary due to game optimization, drivers, and other factors.
A negative bottleneck indicates the GPU is weaker relative to the CPU, meaning the GPU is the limiting factor (GPU bottleneck).
