How to Use the Binding Calculator
This tool calculates the spine width and binding wire length for a book or document. All measurements are in millimeters (mm).
- Enter the number of pages – the total pages in your document (e.g., 100). Must be a positive integer.
- Enter paper thickness – the thickness of a single sheet in mm (e.g., 0.1). Must be greater than 0.
- Enter cover thickness – the thickness of the front and back covers combined (e.g., 1.5). Can be 0 if no cover.
- Enter spine margin – extra space added to the spine (e.g., 5). Can be 0.
- Click Calculate or press Enter.
Results:
- Spine Width = (Pages × Paper Thickness) + (Cover Thickness × 2) + Spine Margin
- Binding Wire Length = Spine Width + 20 mm (for loops)
All inputs must be valid numbers. Invalid fields will show a red error.
