How to Use the AP Exam Score Estimator
This calculator estimates your AP exam composite score and predicted grade (1–5) based on your multiple-choice and free-response performance.
- Select a Subject – Choose your AP subject from the dropdown. Each subject has unique weights and grade cutoffs.
- Enter Multiple-Choice Scores – Input the number of correct answers in Multiple Choice Correct and the total questions in Multiple Choice Total.
- Enter Free-Response Scores – Input your earned points in Free Response Score and the maximum possible in Free Response Total.
- Click "Calculate Score" – The form validates your inputs (e.g., scores cannot exceed totals).
- View Results – Your Composite Score (0–100) and Predicted AP Grade (1–5) appear below. The formula uses weighted percentages:
(MC% × MC weight) + (FR% × FR weight), then maps to cutoffs.
Tip: Ensure all fields are filled with non-negative numbers. The calculator uses subject-specific weights (e.g., English Language: 45% MC, 55% FR).
