How to Use the AP Calculus Score Calculator
This tool estimates your AP Calculus AB or BC exam score based on your multiple-choice and free-response performance.
- Select Exam Type: Choose "AP Calculus AB" or "AP Calculus BC" from the dropdown. For BC, an optional subscore field appears.
- Enter Multiple Choice Results:
- Correct: Number of correct answers (0–45).
- Incorrect: Number of incorrect answers (0–45).
- Correct + Incorrect cannot exceed 45. There is no penalty for guessing.
- Enter Free-Response Points: Total points earned on the free-response section (0–54 for both AB and BC).
- For BC Only – Subscore (Optional): If you took the BC exam, enter your AB subscore points (0–108) to see your AB subscore estimate.
- Calculate: Click "Calculate Score". Your estimated AP score (1–5) and a composite breakdown will appear.
Note: The composite score uses a formula: Multiple Choice Correct × 1.2 + Free-Response Points. The score boundaries are based on typical AP exam curves and may vary slightly each year.

The composite score is calculated by adding the multiple-choice raw score (number correct × 1.2) and the free-response points. Then the composite is mapped to an AP score (1-5) using approximate cutoffs.
The BC subscore reflects performance on the AB portion of the BC exam. It is calculated similarly using the multiple-choice score and the AB component of the free-response.
