How to Use the AB Calculus Score Calculator
This tool estimates your AP score (1–5) based on your multiple-choice and free-response performance. Follow these steps:
- Enter Multiple Choice scores: Input the number of correct answers (out of 45) and the number of incorrect answers (out of 45). The calculator uses only correct answers for the raw score.
- Enter Free Response scores: For each of the 6 FRQs (FRQ 1–6), enter a score between 0 and 9.
- Click "Calculate Score": The calculator validates all inputs (must be within the specified ranges). If any field is invalid, it will show an error.
- View your results:
- Estimated AP Score (1–5) with color coding: green (4–5), yellow (3), red (1–2).
- Composite Score (weighted formula: MC Raw × 1.2 + FR Raw × 1.5).
- Score Breakdown showing MC raw (out of 45), FR raw (out of 54), and composite.
- Interpretation of what each AP score means (e.g., "Extremely well qualified" for 5).
- Reset: Click "Reset" to clear all fields and hide results.
Note: The calculator uses typical AP cutoffs: ≥70 = 5, ≥55 = 4, ≥40 = 3, ≥25 = 2, else 1. All inputs must be whole numbers within their ranges.

Frequently Asked Questions
The composite score is calculated as: Multiple Choice Raw Score (number correct) × 1.2 + Free Response Raw Score (sum of 6 questions, each 0-9) × 1.5. This composite is then mapped to a 1-5 AP score based on typical cutoffs.
Multiple choice has 45 questions, each worth 1 point raw. Free response has 6 questions, each scored 0-9, for a total raw of 54 points.
The cutoffs used are approximate and based on typical ranges. Official cutoffs vary slightly each year. This calculator provides an estimate.
