How to use the Watts to Amps Calculator:

  1. Enter Power (Watts): Input the total power consumption in watts (e.g., 1000).
  2. Enter Voltage (Volts): Input the system voltage (e.g., 120 for standard US outlet).
  3. Select Current Type: Choose DC, AC Single Phase, or AC Three Phase from the dropdown.
  4. Set Power Factor (if applicable): For AC types, enter a value between 0 and 1 (default is 1). For DC, this field is still shown but not used in calculation.
  5. For AC Three Phase only: Enter the Line-to-Line Voltage (e.g., 208 V) when the field appears.
  6. Click "Calculate Amps": The result shows the current in amperes (A) along with the formula used.

Note: All inputs must be positive numbers. Power factor must be between 0 and 1. The calculator uses standard electrical formulas: DC: I = P/V; AC Single Phase: I = P/(V×PF); AC Three Phase: I = P/(√3×VL-L×PF).

Frequently Asked Questions

Use the formula: Amps = Watts / (Volts × Power Factor) for AC, or Amps = Watts / Volts for DC.

Power factor is a number between 0 and 1 representing the ratio of real power to apparent power in AC circuits. Typical values are 0.8 to 1.

Yes, select 'AC Three Phase' and enter line-to-line voltage and power factor.
