Frequently Asked Questions
PQP stands for Premier Qualifying Points, which are used by United Airlines to determine elite status. They are earned based on the fare and distance of a flight, multiplied by a fare class factor.
PQP is calculated as (Fare × 0.05 + Distance × 0.05) multiplied by a fare class multiplier. The base formula yields 1 PQP per $20 spent or 20 miles flown, whichever is higher, but the multiplier adjusts it.
Economy fare classes (Y, B, M, U, H, Q, V, W, S, T, L, K) have a 1.5x multiplier, Basic Economy (G) has 0.5x, Business/First (J, C, D, Z) have 2.0x, and First (P, F, A) have 2.5x.
