How to use this tool?
This calculator computes your UC Berkeley GPA based on course units and letter grades.
- Add a course: Click the Add Course button. Each course has three fields:
- Course Name (optional) – for your reference.
- Units – enter the number of units (e.g., 4). Use decimals for half-units (e.g., 3.5). Must be a positive number.
- Grade – select the letter grade from the dropdown. The calculator uses the standard UC Berkeley grade points (A+ = A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, etc.).
- Add more courses as needed by clicking Add Course again.
- Calculate your GPA: Click the Calculate GPA button.
- View results: Your GPA (weighted by units) appears in the green box. Below it, you’ll see a breakdown showing total grade points, total units, and the calculation formula.
Important: All units must be positive numbers, and every course must have a grade selected. If you see an error, fix the highlighted issues and recalculate.
