This calculator helps you estimate the volume and weight of topsoil needed for a garden bed, lawn, or landscaping project.
Step-by-Step Guide
- Select Shape: Choose the shape of your area: Rectangle, Circle, or Triangle.
- Choose Unit: Pick your measurement unit: Feet, Meters, or Yards.
- Enter Dimensions:
- For Rectangle: Length, Width, and Depth.
- For Circle: Diameter (the first input) and Depth. Width is hidden.
- For Triangle: Base (Length), Height (Width), and Depth.
- Set Density (Optional): The default is 75 lbs/cu ft (typical for topsoil). Adjust if needed (range 75–100).
- Click "Calculate": The results show:
- Volume in cubic units (cu ft, cu m, or cu yd).
- Weight in tons (or metric tons for meters).
Note: The calculator automatically converts volume to cubic feet for weight calculation. For meters, it uses a conversion factor of 35.3147; for yards, 27.
