This calculator estimates your taxi fare based on distance, time, and optional extras. Follow these steps:
- Enter Distance (miles) – Input the trip length in miles (e.g., 10). Use decimal values for partial miles.
- Enter Time (minutes) – Input the expected travel time in minutes (e.g., 20).
- Adjust Base Fare & Per Mile Rate – These fields are pre-filled with default values ($2.50 and $1.50). Change them if your local rates differ.
- Add Waiting Time (minutes) – Optional. Enter any waiting time (e.g., 5 minutes). The calculator charges $0.50 per minute.
- Set Surge Multiplier – Default is 1.0 (no surge). Increase for peak pricing (minimum 1.0).
- Click "Calculate Fare" – The estimated fare and a detailed breakdown appear below.
Important: All inputs must be non-negative numbers. Distance and time are required; base fare, per mile rate, waiting time, and surge have defaults. The result shows the total fare and how it was calculated (Base + Distance + Waiting × Surge).
