How to Use the Sterling Scrap Calculator
This calculator estimates the value of silver scrap based on weight, purity, and current silver price. Follow these steps:

- Select Purity: Choose the silver purity from the dropdown: Sterling .925 (92.5%), Coin .800 (80%), or Fine .999 (99.9%).
- Set Silver Price: Enter the current silver price per troy ounce in USD (e.g., 25.00).
- Add Spot Premium (Optional): If you want to add a percentage above the spot price (e.g., 5 for 5%), enter it here. Leave at 0 for no premium.
- Calculate: Click the Calculate Value button. The estimated value and a breakdown (weight, purity, pure silver ounces, adjusted price) will appear below.

Frequently Asked Questions
Sterling silver is an alloy containing 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals, typically copper.
The calculator converts weight to troy ounces, multiplies by purity to get pure silver content, then multiplies by the adjusted silver price (spot price plus premium).
Spot premium is an additional percentage added to the market silver price to account for dealer margins or market conditions.
