How to Use the Molarity Calculator

This calculator solves for molarity, mass, or volume when you provide exactly three of the four inputs. All values must be in metric units.

  1. Enter three values from the fields below (leave one blank):
    • Mass (g) – the solute mass in grams.
    • Volume (L) – the solution volume in liters.
    • Molar Mass (g/mol) – the solute’s molar mass.
    • Desired Molarity (mol/L) – the target concentration (optional).
  2. Click “Calculate” – the missing value will be computed and shown in the result box.
  3. To start over, click “Clear” to reset all fields.

Example: To find molarity, enter mass (5.84 g), volume (0.5 L), and molar mass (58.44 g/mol). Leave “Desired Molarity” empty. Result: 0.2000 mol/L.

Tip: All inputs must be positive numbers. Volume cannot be zero. If you see an error, check that exactly three fields are filled.

Frequently Asked Questions

Molarity (M) is the number of moles of solute per liter of solution, expressed in mol/L.

Enter any three of the four fields (mass, volume, molar mass, desired molarity) and click Calculate. The missing value will be computed.

Mass in grams, volume in liters, molar mass in g/mol, and molarity in mol/L.
