How to use this tool?

Step 1: Enter the Property Size in acres (e.g., 5 for 5 acres). Use decimal values if needed (e.g., 0.5 for half an acre).

Step 2: Select the Terrain Difficulty:

  • Easy – Flat, open land (multiplier: 0.8)
  • Moderate – Slight slopes, some vegetation (multiplier: 1.0)
  • Difficult – Steep, heavy vegetation (multiplier: 1.5)

Step 3: Choose the Survey Type:

  • Boundary Survey – $500 per acre
  • Topographic Survey – $800 per acre
  • Construction Staking – $1,000 per acre

Step 4: Set the Urgency:

  • Standard (2-4 weeks) – multiplier: 0.9
  • Expedited (1 week) – multiplier: 1.0
  • Rush (24-48 hours) – multiplier: 1.3

Step 5: Click "Calculate Cost". The estimated total cost will appear, along with a breakdown of the base cost per acre and multipliers used.

Frequently Asked Questions

Land survey costs depend on property size, terrain difficulty, type of survey (boundary, topographic, construction), and urgency.

This calculator provides a rough estimate based on typical industry rates. Actual costs may vary by location and surveyor.

A boundary survey marks property lines, while a topographic survey maps elevations and features. Topographic surveys are generally more expensive.
