How to Use the Ideal Gas Calculator
- Enter exactly three values from Pressure, Volume, Amount (n), and Temperature. Leave the fourth field empty.
- Select units for each value using the dropdown menus. The calculator automatically converts all inputs to atm, L, mol, and K for calculation.
- Click "Calculate". The missing variable is computed using the ideal gas law (PV = nRT) with R = 0.082057 L·atm/(mol·K).
- View the result displayed below the form, including the formula used and the computed value in the base unit (atm, L, mol, or K).
Notes:
- All values must be non-negative numbers.
- Temperature in °C or °F is automatically converted to Kelvin.
- Volume can be entered in L, m³, mL, or ft³; pressure in atm, bar, Pa, kPa, or mmHg.
- If you fill fewer or more than three fields, an error will appear.

Frequently Asked Questions
The ideal gas law is PV = nRT, relating pressure (P), volume (V), amount (n), and temperature (T) of an ideal gas, with R being the gas constant.
Pressure: atm, bar, Pa, kPa, mmHg. Volume: L, m³, mL, ft³. Amount: mol, kmol. Temperature: K, °C, °F.
Yes, leave the field you want to calculate empty and fill the other three.
