How to use this tool?

This calculator solves linear, quadratic, and cubic equations. Follow these steps:

  1. Select Equation Type from the dropdown: Linear (ax + b = 0), Quadratic (ax² + bx + c = 0), or Cubic (ax³ + bx² + cx + d = 0).
  2. Enter coefficients in the input fields. Use decimal numbers if needed (e.g., 2.5). All coefficients are required.
  3. Click "Solve" to compute the solution(s).
  4. View the result displayed in green, along with step-by-step reasoning below it.

Important notes:

  • For linear equations, a cannot be zero (otherwise no or infinite solutions).
  • For quadratic and cubic equations, the leading coefficient (a) must be non-zero.
  • Results show up to 4 decimal places. Complex roots are displayed with i.
  • If you see an error, check your inputs and try again.
