How to Use the Dividend Calculator

This calculator estimates the future value of an investment that pays dividends, with optional reinvestment and growth.

  1. Enter Initial Investment ($): The amount you invest at the start (e.g., 10000). Must be non-negative.
  2. Enter Dividend Yield (%): The annual dividend yield as a percentage (e.g., 4 for 4%). Must be non-negative.
  3. Select Reinvest Dividends?: Choose "Yes" to reinvest dividends automatically, or "No" to take them as cash.
  4. Enter Investment Period (years): How many years you plan to hold the investment (minimum 1).
  5. Enter Annual Contribution ($): Optional extra money added each year (e.g., 1200). Default is 0.
  6. Enter Dividend Growth Rate (%): Optional annual increase in the dividend yield (e.g., 2 for 2% growth per year). Default is 0.
  7. Click Calculate to see results.

Results Explained:

  • Total Value: Your investment's final worth, including initial amount, contributions, and reinvested dividends.
  • Total Dividends Received: Sum of all dividends earned over the period.
  • Final Annual Dividend Income: The dividend you'd receive in the last year based on the final value and yield.
