How to use this tool?
Follow these steps to calculate a decathlon score using the Decathlon Calculator:
- Enter all ten event performances in the provided fields. Use metric units:
- Running events (100m, 400m, 110m Hurdles, 1500m): seconds (e.g., 10.50, 48.00, 14.00, 260.00)
- Jumping/Throwing events (Long Jump, Shot Put, High Jump, Discus, Pole Vault, Javelin): meters (e.g., 7.50, 15.00, 2.00, 45.00, 5.00, 60.00)
- Click the "Calculate Score" button.
- View your Total Score (displayed in large green text) and a breakdown of points per event below it.
- If any field is empty, invalid, or non-positive, an error message will appear. Correct the input and try again.
Note: The calculator uses IAAF scoring formulas. For track events, lower times yield higher scores; for field events, greater distances yield higher scores.

Frequently Asked Questions
The score is calculated using IAAF scoring formulas. For track events (lower time is better), the formula is A*(B-P)^C. For field events (higher distance/height is better), the formula is A*(P-B)^C. Each event has specific constants A, B, and C.
Use metric units: seconds for track events, meters for field events (long jump, shot put, high jump, discus, pole vault, javelin). High jump and pole vault should be in meters (e.g., 2.00).
This calculator uses the standard IAAF scoring tables for men's decathlon. It provides a close approximation, but slight rounding differences may occur. For official results, refer to the official IAAF tables.
