How to Use the Correlation Calculator
This calculator computes the Pearson correlation coefficient (r) between two paired sets of values (X and Y). Follow these steps:
- Enter X values in the left text area. Separate numbers by commas or spaces (e.g.,
1, 2, 3, 4, 5). - Enter Y values in the right text area, using the same format. Each pair (X,Y) must have the same number of values.
- Click "Calculate Correlation" to see the result.
What you get:
- r value (ranges from -1 to 1). Positive = positive correlation, negative = inverse correlation.
- Strength (very weak, weak, moderate, or strong) based on |r|.
- Step-by-step breakdown showing means, sums, and the formula used.
Tips:
- Enter at least 2 pairs of numbers for a valid result.
- Values can be integers or decimals. No letters or symbols.
- If X and Y have different counts, an error will appear.

Frequently Asked Questions
Pearson correlation (r) measures the linear relationship between two variables, ranging from -1 to 1. 1 indicates perfect positive correlation, -1 perfect negative, and 0 no linear correlation.
Enter X and Y values separated by commas or spaces. Each pair must have the same number of values. For example: X: 1,2,3,4,5 and Y: 2,4,5,4,5.
The calculator expects complete pairs. Missing values will cause an error. Ensure each dataset has the same number of numeric entries.
