How to Use the Catch Rate Calculator
This calculator estimates the probability of catching a Pokémon based on the core game formula. Follow these steps:
- Enter Max HP – The Pokémon’s total HP (e.g., 100). Must be a positive number.
- Enter Current HP – The Pokémon’s current HP (e.g., 50). Cannot exceed Max HP.
- Enter Species Catch Rate – A value from 0 to 255 (e.g., 45 for Pikachu). Check Pokédex for the exact number.
- Select Ball Multiplier – Choose the Poké Ball type (e.g., Ultra Ball = 2x).
- Select Status Condition – Choose the status effect (e.g., Sleep = 2x).
- Click “Calculate Catch Rate” – The result shows the catch probability and a formula breakdown.
Note: All inputs are required. The calculator uses the standard formula: HP Factor × Catch Rate × Ball × Status ÷ 255, then applies the shake check (4 attempts).

Frequently Asked Questions
It calculates the probability of successfully catching a Pokémon based on game mechanics, considering HP, species catch rate, ball type, and status condition.
The formula involves an HP factor, modified catch rate, and a 4-step probability check. Our calculator shows the breakdown step by step.
The species catch rate ranges from 0 to 255 (e.g., 3 for Legendaries, 255 for common Pokémon). The ball and status multipliers further affect the final probability.
