How to Use the Brick Calculator
- Enter wall dimensions in feet: Wall Length and Wall Height.
- Set brick size in inches: Brick Length (default 8 in) and Brick Height (default 2.25 in).
- Add mortar thickness in inches (default 0.5 in).
- Include waste percentage (default 10%) to account for breakage.
- Click Calculate Bricks.
Output: Total bricks needed, including waste. The formula shows the calculation steps.
Note: All inputs must be positive numbers. Mortar can be zero. Waste must be 0–100%.

Measure the wall length and height in feet, then input brick dimensions in inches, mortar thickness, and waste percentage. The calculator uses the formula: (wall area) / ((brick length + mortar) * (brick height + mortar)).
Standard modular brick size is 8 x 2.25 x 3.75 inches (length x height x depth). However, you can adjust the dimensions in the calculator.
Waste accounts for bricks that break or need cutting. A typical waste allowance is 5-10%.
