How to Use the Bovine Gestation Calculator

  1. Select a Breeding Date – Click the date input and choose the date when breeding occurred.
  2. Choose the Breed – Pick the cow’s breed from the dropdown. The calculator automatically uses the breed’s average gestation length (e.g., Holstein: 286 days, Jersey: 279 days).
  3. Calculate – Click the “Calculate Calving Date” button. The tool adds the gestation length to the breeding date.
  4. Read the Results – You’ll see:
    • Estimated Calving Date – The predicted due date.
    • Gestation Length – The number of days used (based on breed).
    • Current Stage – Shows if the cow is in the first, second, or third trimester, or if the date is past due.

Note: All dates are in your local timezone. The calculator uses standard gestation ranges (279–290 days) by breed. No metric/imperial conversion needed.
