How to use this tool?
This calculator computes the weighted average interest rate (blended rate) across multiple loans or investments. It uses the formula: Blended Rate = Σ(Amount × Rate) / Σ(Amount).
- Enter principal amounts – In each row, type the dollar amount (e.g., 10000) in the Amount ($) field.
- Enter interest rates – In the same row, type the annual interest rate as a percentage (e.g., 5.5 for 5.5%) in the Rate (%) field.
- Add or remove rows – Click Add Row to include more loans/investments. Use the trash icon to delete a row (at least one row must remain).
- Calculate – Click Calculate Blended Rate. The result shows:
- Blended Rate – The weighted average interest rate.
- Total Principal – Sum of all amounts.
- Total Interest – Total annual interest (principal × blended rate).
Note: All amounts must be non-negative numbers. If you see an error, check that every field is filled correctly and the total principal is greater than zero.
