How to Use the AP English Language Score Calculator
- Enter Multiple-Choice Scores: Input the number of correct answers (0–45) in the "Multiple-Choice Correct" field. Optionally, enter incorrect answers in the "Multiple-Choice Incorrect" field. If left blank, it defaults to 0. The sum of correct and incorrect cannot exceed 45.
- Enter Essay Scores: For each of the three essays (Synthesis, Rhetorical Analysis, Argument), enter a score from 0 to 6. You can use half-point increments (e.g., 4.5).
- Calculate: Click the "Calculate Score" button. The calculator will compute your composite score (0–150) and convert it to an AP score on the 1–5 scale.
- Read the Result: Your estimated AP score (1–5) and a description (e.g., "Extremely well qualified" for a 5) will appear. Below, you'll see the composite score and a breakdown of the calculation formula.
Note: All inputs must be valid numbers within the specified ranges. If you see an error, adjust your entries and try again.
