- Enter Parent 1’s Monthly Income – Input gross monthly income (before taxes) in dollars. Use a positive number.
- Enter Parent 2’s Monthly Income – Same format as above.
- Enter Number of Children – Must be 1 or more. The calculator uses Alabama’s basic obligation percentages (up to 10 children).
- Select Custody Arrangement:
- Sole Custody – The non-custodial parent (lower income) pays a share of the basic obligation.
- Joint Custody – Shared parenting, with a 1.5 multiplier applied to half the obligation.
- Click “Calculate Support” – The estimated monthly support appears below. Results are approximate and based on Alabama guidelines.
